Minutes of last meeting agreed.
Apologies for Absence: Michelle Aspinall-Baker, Sara Ward, Paul Richens, Kath Richardson , Douglas Benford, Virginia Fassnidge
Noticeboard: New display installed promoting re-everything! Excellent – thanks again to Diana ALL
Canal side Recycling: No further information received from LBH – we will follow up. PH
Give and Take Day: Hugh will keep us posted about Brentford Dock’s plans to hold such an event in the future. HP
St Paul’s school held its Annual fair on Saturday 19th June: We played another “game” with the children involving throwing stones labelled with the names of recyclable items into relevantly marked bins. This will be refined further forBrentford Festival. DL HP PH
Caterers Food Waste: Food and packaging left over from public functions is not collected for recycling from events at the Civic Centre. We agreed we should write drawing the Council’s attention to this and requesting action. Lyndon hoped to look into the policies of the Civic Centre’s catering arrangements but we have heard nothing from him.  Diana and Patti will put their heads together to draft a letter to LBH and Councillors. A suggestion was made that the caterers should be recommended to become part of the Sustainable Restaurants Association, if they are not already. PH DL
Recycling site at Morrisons: Seems to be better kept at present.Negotiations going well with Brentford Business Watch and invitation for Morrisons to participate. HP
Brentford Dock Children’s Gardening Club: Further news about this towards the end of this year/early next. HP
LBH Recycling Roadshow: Morrisons, Tuesday 22 June. Several members went along.  Very disappointing that this was the first we had heard of the new scheme for disposal of small electric appliances. Natasha had left a message that she had hoped to attend our meeting this evening but was not well.  Patti to ring her and report back. PH
Osterley Open Day was held on Sunday 27th June: An excellent day – weather-wise and support-wise!
Brentford Festival: This will be held as usual on the first Sunday in September i.e. 5th in Boston Manor Park.  We will have a stand as always and Paul will bring the ever popular wormery.  For the children we will play an improved version of the game we played at St Paul’s school – we may also take the ducks? We should also have a campaign to recruit more members. Should we “broaden our horizons” and include other similarly minded groups? Suggest a small descriptive poster and a new list for signatures. Plans to be discussed at August meeting.  FULL attendance, please! ALL
Disposal of used cooking oil: We are aware of collection of this from restaurants etc but we still have concern for domestic waste. We are advised that Ray Prendergast, Hounslow Homes, is knowledgeable on this and Hugh said he would check and report back. HP
