3 Noticeboard: We understand from the community liaison officer at Morrisons, Brentford, that Hounslow Council were responsible for removing the recycling skips when the site was closed in July 2014 and our noticeboard disappeared.  We will now go back to Steve Curran and see what can be done to provide a new noticeboard for BRAG. 4 Marie Curie Coffee Mornings: These continue to be held every month in the Brentford Dock club room to raise funds. The next one will be on Monday 17th July from 10:30 to 12:30.   All are welcome! ALL
5 Soup Lunches: Also held at Brentford Dock club room on the 4th Thursday of every month from 1:00 to 2:30, next one 27th July. Very good value, tasty homemade soup and bread – and cakes! – all for £3! ALL
6 Future project: Douglas and Patti attended the InterClimate Network’s Sustainability Summit on 30th June.  InterClimate Network is a charity whose mission is to mobilise the energy and creativity of young people, inspiring them to become active citizens and leaders in sustainable, low carbon, economic development.  Kew House School hosted this event for around 50 – 60 secondary school students from across the area.  As part of the event the students were introduced to people working in several areas of sustainability, one of which is recycling.  The aim was for students to be inspired into action in their own schools, which was very imaginatively demonstrated by these young  representatives from Gumley House, Hammersmith Academy, Isleworth & Syon and Kew House schools. We hoped to be able to pick their brains to further our cause in encouraging school children to recycle more and “train” their parents. PH DB ID
7 Restart Project: Cathja, on Brentford High Street (next door to the Magpie!), have nearly finished preparing the room for this project to use. Small electrical/electronic items of equipment which are faulty or not working well may be taken to a Restart Party when organised, probably later this year, maybe September.  Information notices will be posted in the library and on BRAG and TW8 websites.  West London Waste (WLWA) is also hoping to work with other local groups to run a network of Restart parties. To find out more, look at https://therestartproject.org/RestartParty/ ALL
8 Brentford Festival, Sunday, 3rd September 2017: This event will be in Blondin Park again and we will participate.  Our presence is valuable, but it is a lot of work for just a few volunteers so more help would be appreciated.  Paul will not bring the wormery this year, so we have been discussing other topics to promote.  One which we discussed at length and is top of a lot of environmentalists’ lists, is the prevalence of plastic waste pollution. The recycling of plastics and reduction in usage has become a priority.  We plan to festoon the stall with information demonstrating/displaying the disastrous results of waste plastic – particularly in rivers, seas, oceans – so please let us have any ideas for and creations of display items we can use. ALL
9 Disability Network, Hounslow: This is the organisation we visited last year at their garden in Isleworth.  They are a charitable organisation who do tremendous work and they held a fundraising event on Sunday 25th June  which was a great success, considerable funds were raised and a great time was had by all who attended!  Cheques may still be sent to Disability Network Hounslow, Bell Road, Hounslow TW3 3NX. (Charity number 1097010.) The garden is also open to visitors on Tuesday between 12:00 and 2:00 – please contact Virginia for further information, vfassnidge@yahoo.co.uk ALL

PLEASE NOTE : NEXT MEETING: Tuesday 8th August 2017
7pm at the Toll House, Brentford Lock.
