9 Southall Lane Recycling Centre Open Day: Come along to the brand new Materials Handling Facility visits to which are being arranged to take place this Saturday, 10 March.

Apologies from LBH for the short notice, but if you are interested, please contact communications@hounslow.gov.uk. Since November last year, all of Hounslow’s household recycling has transferred to this state-of-the-art facility where it is sorted and dispatched to preprocessors.
The facility is likely to process in excess of 16,000 tonnes in its first year of operation, with further capacity for the future.
The FREE open day is open to all, during four, 45 minute sessions, limited to 40 people in each group. The first group will be admitted from 10am, with the final group admitted at 2pm. The session will include a tour, a presentation and a chance to ask questions. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

10 Brentford Dock Bi-Monthly lectures: The next one of these very interesting events will be held in the Residents Club Room at 14:30 on Thursday 17th May.  The subject is Living with the Silent Enemy – Diabetes, and the speaker will be the Head of Hounslow Diabetes UK.
11 Waste Not Festival: Friends of Cathja have suggested a “Waste not” festival, which Anita Bhogal, Communications Manager, Hounslow Council, has picked up on, to be held in Brentford Town Square this summer, probably at the Market on Sunday, 29th July.   The idea is to bring together groups and individuals who can “create something from waste, share how “waste” can be viewed as useful, repair and recycle, upcycle, educate, enlighten, engage”. BRAG has agreed to participate so can you please think of topics for us to recommend and/or publicize.
12 Southall Lane Recycling Centre: We have expressed our disappointment to LBH for not being able to attend the Open Day last month due to such short notice and asking for another chance.  No reply has been received, but Guy Lambert has suggested that we communicate with him and he will see if he can help.  It would be particularly useful if we have visited this facility before the Waste Not event to be held in July.
13 Brentford Challenge: This is organised by the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and will take place at Syon Park on Sunday, 15th April. It will include a 10K run, 10K Walk and Talk (in association with West London Mental Health Trust) and a 1k kids’ race; a stand-uppaddleboarding lesson at Brentford Lock and sampling Yoga, Pilates, Frisbee golf and boxercise at the event’s sports and health village. For further information, contact the Brentford Challenge Team on 0844 2471889 or brentfordchallenge@brentfordccst.com

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday 1st May 2018
