Restart Project: These events have proved popular and successful and will continue to be arranged.  Information on the next one to be held in Brentford will be passed on in due course. Further details on this subject and other restart parties may be found at: https://therestartproject.org/RestartParty/ VF PH
Street Care Team, Litter bins:  We are still anxious to hear results of a pilot programme to segregate recyclable cans and PET bottles from street bins and maybe street cleaning.  We know that currently LBH don’t attempt to recycle from street bins at all because they have always been too contaminated. They’re trying to change that in conjunction with West London Waste but it may take a while. At present the street bin stuff is incinerated for energy: not ideal but at least nothing ends up in landfill or the sea. However, we still agree that BRAG should make every effort to find a way to recover as much metal from littered cans and reduce the amount of plastic (increasingly more bottles) which litter our streets and cause so much damage to the environment. 5 General recycling: TerraCycle, an excellent initiative, collect and recycle many forms of recyclable  waste.   Please look at the very comprehensive, inspiring website:  https://www.terracycle.co.uk/en-GB/ ALL
Ealing Repair Café: Ealing Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Support Group are a local group run through Facebook to support Ealing residents in living more sustainable lifestyles. They have already held a Make Do and Mend/Repair Cafe for clothing and textiles, and would like to expand to a full, regular repair cafe for all kinds of household items. Their latest clothes repair and making event was on Monday 29 April, at Northfields Community Centre, Northcroft Road, West Ealing and future dates will be found at https://queenofthesuburbs.org/events. ALL
Green Goblet: This is a UK environmentally friendly company that is committed to see disposable cups being replaced with reusable goblets. http://www.green-goblet.com. Very useful for events. ALL
Brentford Together: London Sustainability Exchange, Friends of Cathja and Salopian Garden – Cultivate London have won a collaborative Big Lottery grant, which started in April and will run for three years. Planned activities include Dr Bike sessions in Brentford Market 10-1 on the first Sunday of every month and sewing sessions on Cathja’s Barge. Please support. ALL
Festival of Waste: Last year Rin (Cathja) organised this event in Brentford and it will be repeated this year. This will mean getting together with other local groups, trying to make this world a little less carbon toxic, more environmentally aware and inclusive and improve the environment in various ways, by increasing walking and cycling, litter picking, planting, awareness raising, outdoor skills etc., getting the community together to improve the area.

This will be held in Market Square, Brentford High Street, from 11:00 – 16:00 on Saturday 17th August. BRAG have agreed to take part and will share a stall, as last year, with Friends of the Earth. Any other groups interested in taking part should contact Rin direct for further information:  Rin Roche, M: 07904 406507 E: rinny_r02@yahoo.co.uk

Great British Spring Clean: this initiative ran from 22nd  March to 23rd April and aimed to inspire people to join forces to clear litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible. This was well supported and successful – Guy Lambert played a very active part and is making it a monthly event.
Quieter Homes Scheme/Noise/Heathrow: If you have a problem with excessive noise in your home, this is the link to the Heathrow scheme for replacement windows.  Everything is explained here and it’s very easy to find out, either by phone or email, if your property is eligible.
