Restart Project: These events have proved popular and successful and will continue to be arranged.  Information on the next one to be held in Brentford will be passed on in due course. Further details on this subject and other restart parties may be found at: https://therestartproject.org/RestartParty/ VF PH
Street Care Team, Litter bins:  We still hope that, in the not too distant future, recyclable cans and PET bottles collected from street bins and street cleaning may be separated and recycled.  We know that currently LBH don’t attempt to recycle from street bins at all because they have always been too contaminated. They’re trying to change that, in conjunction with West London Waste, but it may take some time. At present the street bin stuff is incinerated for energy: not ideal but at least nothing ends up in landfill or the sea. However, we still agree that BRAG should make every effort to find a way to recover as much metal from littered cans and reduce the amount of plastic (increasingly more bottles) which litter our streets and cause so much damage to the environment. 5 General recycling: TerraCycle, an excellent initiative, collect and recycle many forms of recyclable  waste.   Please look at the very comprehensive, inspiring website:  https://www.terracycle.co.uk/en-GB/ ALL
Ealing Repair Café: Ealing Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Support Group are a local group run through Facebook to support Ealing residents in living more sustainable lifestyles. They have already held a Make Do and Mend/Repair Cafe for clothing and textiles, and would like to expand to a full, regular repair cafe for all kinds of household items. Their last clothes repair and making event was in April, at Northfields Community Centre, Northcroft Road, West Ealing and future dates will be found at https://queenofthesuburbs.org/events. ALL
Brentford Together: Please support London Sustainability Exchange, Friends of Cathja and Salopian Garden – Cultivate London having won a collaborative Big Lottery grant, which started in April and will run for three years. Planned activities include Dr Bike sessions which are being held in Brentford Market from 10-1 on the first Sunday of every month and sewing sessions on Cathja’s Barge. ALL
Festival of Waste/Environment Day: Last year Rin Roche (Cathja) organised an event in Brentford and will do so again this year. This will mean getting together with other local groups who share the same commitment  trying to make this world a little less carbon toxic, more environmentally aware and inclusive and improve the environment in various ways, by increasing walking and cycling, litter picking, planting, awareness raising, outdoor skills etc., and encouraging the community to improve the area.

This will be held in Market Square, Brentford High Street, from 11:00 – 16:00 on Saturday 17th August. BRAG have agreed to take part and will share a stall, as last year, with Friends of the Earth. Any other groups interested in taking part should contact Rin direct for further ,information:  Rin Roche, M: 07904 406507 E: rinny_r02@yahoo.co.uk

Great British Spring Clean: this initiative ran from 22nd  March to 23rd April and aimed to inspire people to join forces to clear litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible. This was well supported and successful. Guy Lambert has played a very active part and is making it a monthly event on the third Sunday of the month from 10:00 am at varying locations.  If there is an area near you which would improve with some action, please let us – and Guy – know. Future suggested areas: Lion Way and around Brentford police station. ALL
Hanwell Carnival: This will be held on Saturday 15th June  and the octopus will be making an appearance at Elthorne Park.  Further information, route etc. will be found at http://www.hanwellcarnival.co.uk/ ALL

Announcement: We have been informed that Sam Thomas,  London Customer Operations Manager, Canal and River Trust, who many will remember gave us a very lively presentation about the waterways around Brentford at our 2017 AGM, has been made redundant from the Canal and River Trust.  He has very kindly allowed us to use the Toll House at Brentford Lock for our monthly meetings so this may not continue.  Our profoundest thanks to Sam for the use of the facilities.  We are therefore searching for alternative premises for the future so please, watch this space.  Any recommendations will be gratefully received.  We will meet at the Toll House in July and decide what to do. ALL
Marie Curie Coffee Mornings: These continue to be held every month in the Brentford Dock club room to raise funds for Marie Curie. The next one will be on Monday 17th June from 10:30 to 12:30.
