Restart Project: Events are continuing to be arranged in many localities. Details of another one to be held in Brentford will be notified closer to the time.  Details on this subject and other restart parties may be found at the following website: VF PH
Street Care Team, Litter bins: We will continue to wait for the recyclable cans and PET bottles from street bins and street cleaning to be separated and recycled.  We feel that BRAG should make every effort to find a way to recover as much metal from littered cans and reduce the amount of plastic (increasingly more bottles) which litter our streets and cause so much damage to the environment. ALL
General recycling: TerraCycle collect and recycle many forms of recyclable  waste.   All the information can be found on the very comprehensive website:  There is a link to this on the BRAG website so this will not be repeated in future minutes unless there is anything new to report. ALL
Ealing Repair Café: Ealing Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Support Group are a local group run through Facebook to support local residents in living more sustainable lifestyles. They have already held a Make Do and Mend/Repair Cafe for clothing and textiles, and would like to expand to a full, regular repair cafe for all kinds of household items. Their last clothes repair and making event was in April, at Northfields Community Centre, Northcroft Road, West Ealing and future dates will be found at ALL
Brentford Together: London Sustainability Exchange, Friends of Cathja and Salopian Garden – Cultivate London won a collaborative Big Lottery grant to run for three years from last April. Dr Bike sessions are still being held successfully in Brentford Market from 10-1 on the first Sunday of every month and sewing sessions continue on Cathja’s Barge as a result of this. ALL
Festival for the Environment: Last year Rin Roche (Cathja) organised an event in Brentford, Festival of Waste, and this year with similar aims and renamed Festival for the Environment. This means getting together with other local groups who share the same commitment, trying to make this world a little less carbon toxic, more environmentally aware and inclusive and improve the environment in various ways, by increasing walking and cycling, litter picking, planting, awareness raising, outdoor skills etc., and encouraging the community to improve the area.

This will be held in Market Square, Brentford High Street, from 11:00 – 16:00 on Saturday 17th August. BRAG have agreed to take part and will share a stall, as last year, with Friends of the Earth. Any other groups interested in taking part should contact Rin direct for further ,information:  Rin Roche, M: 07904 406507 E:

.1 Festival for the Environment: For our contribution to this event we agreed to continue our campaign for reducing plastic litter which usually ends up in the ocean, with a possible new slogan: “From Street to Sea”. We particularly wish to draw attention to items which are overlooked as being made partially, or completely, of plastic e.g: cellophane (from cigarette packets), tea bags, confectionery wrapping, crisp packets, dental floss, cotton buds, polystyrene trays from fast food, balloons . . . . what else?  We will feature examples in our posters. Please support the initiative and visit us!
Great British Spring Clean: this initiative ran for a month and aimed to inspire people to join forces to clear litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible. This was well supported and successful nationally. Councillor Guy Lambert, has played a very active part in Brentford and is making it a monthly event on the third Sunday of each month from 10:00 am at varying locations. The area around Brentford police station was cleared last month and a great deal of rubbish was collected.  If there is an area near you which would improve with some action, please let us – and Guy – know. A suggested area for future work: Lion Way. ALL
BRAG Meeting Room: We were very kindly allowed to use the Toll House at Brentford Lock for our monthly meetings but we have now found new very suitable premises at Brentford Dock, in the meeting room adjacent to the Residents Club Room.  Many thanks to Brentford Dock Management. ALL
Brentford Festival: This is being held, as last year, in Blondin Park on Sunday 1st September. BRAG is taking a break from the Festival again this year but committee members and other Braggers will attend and give the other stallholders and organisers their support. ALL
Marie Curie Coffee Mornings: These continue to be held every month in the Brentford Dock residents club room to raise funds for Marie Curie. The next one will be on Monday 19th August from 10:30 to 12:30. The Brentford Dock Residents Association have also started producing brunches on the first Wednesday in the month from 11:00 am, all are welcome! ALL
Soup Lunches: These are held at Brentford Dock club room on the 4th Thursday of every month  1:00 to 2:30, next one Thursday 22nd August. Tasty, healthy, homemade soup, bread and cake! ALL
Cathja: We are pleased to hear that Cathja, who had to vacate their premises in Brentford High Street due to the development of the south side, has now reopened at 3-5 St John’s Road, Isleworth TW7 6NA. We wish them all success!
