BRAG (Brentford Recycling Action Group) is a non-political community waste action group, made up of local Brentford residents launched in 1999. We work to raise awareness of waste issues and to promote activities and facilities to improve the local environment for the benefit of local people. BRAG is a member of London Community Resource Network (LCRN) and was started using a toolkit developed by CREATE Bristol, with support from London Borough of Hounslow.
To see how you could get involved, come along to one of our monthly meetings, which take place the first Tuesday of the month at the Residents Clubroom, Brentford Dock, 1 Augustus Close, Brentford, TW8 8QU. The meeting starts at 7pm and finishes at 8pm. Meet our fun and enthusiastic group and get inspired!
To see the sort of things we discuss, please look at our previous minutes (choose minutes from the category list of posts).
Membership of BRAG costs just £3 per annum. You can download our BRAG Membership form (pdf).
You can also join our free email discussion group by sending an email to bragonline-subscribe@googlegroups.com.
New system has VERY basic info: SO:
Can I recycle Batteries?
Do “plastic bags” (not required) include Tiedup (plastic) binliners (are they accepted sealed up in plastic bins or not?)
Shredded paper has so far been tied up in TRANSPARENT plastic sacks. WHY cannot they be collected now?
You can’t recycle batteries at the doorstep. They have to be taken to supermarkets or other shop that will take them. I’ve used plastic bags to put my rubbish in (tied up) and not had a problem. Shredded paper is supposed to go in composter or a certain amount in food waste.
