BRAG highlights devastation of plastic waste pollution at Brentford Festival
BRAG members turned out in force for the Brentford Festival in Blondin Park on 3 September. The BRAG stand was devoted to plastic waste pollution, with display boards (see below) showing the devastating effects of waste plastic, especially in the oceans, rivers and seas, and how it affects wildlife.

Disposable cup recycling service
Veolia is rolling out a national disposable coffee cup recycling scheme. With 84% of takeaway hot drink consumers reported to still be using disposable cups, Veolia said its coffee cup solution aims to collect takeaway cups as soon as consumers have finished their drinks to reduce cup contamination and increase recycling rates. Digging the Dirt
Digging the Dirt is an award-winning production by Multi Story Theatre Company that will be performed on Sunday 4th March at 7pm at the Brentford and Isleworth Quaker Meeting House, Quakers Lane, London Road, Isleworth TW7 5AZ.
The play, a mixture of fable and political commentary, provokes questions about the world we’re making for ourselves.
Food-waste supermarket opens in Leeds
A food-waste supermarket, the first of its kind in the UK, has opened in Pudsey, a suburb of Leeds. The Sharehouse sells surplus food donated by restaurants, allotments, supermarkets and other local businesses, most of which would have ended up in landfill. It is the brainchild of the Real Junk Food Project, a campaigning group that runs food-waste cafes throughout the country. The Project plans to introduce the scheme to every city in the UK.
