From 8 June, Hounslow residents will be able to bring one van load of bulky household waste per calendar year free of charge for disposal at Space Waye, the borough’s reuse and recycling centre.

Ham United Group are launching a monthly film screening at Ham Library new community annexe. This will be called Green Screen and will focus on environmental and innovative films.
The free launch is a screening of Plastic Shores on Wednesday 29 January at 7pm, refreshments available (free). This is a thought provoking film on what happens to plastic when thrown away. Continue reading
STRIKE! magazine are sponsoring 2 nights of Grasp The Nettle on the big screen in London. The 2nd & 3rd of September we will be screening the film at the Whirled Cinema in Camberwell.

Brentford Bikes is an initiative to promote the use of cargo bikes in Brentford and this summer we have three bikes available (provided by The National Cycling Charity) to be used by anyone in Brentford for FREE!
These bikes are perfect for transporting goods and can be a great way to start a new or expand your business.

Are you a community organisation or charity? Own your building or a tenant? Want to increase your income? Create a new service? If so, LVSC and Energise Barnet will be delivering three FREE workshops; details below.
YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO:
· Reduce energy bills and generate your own energy
· Create a new income stream
· Identify and refer residents in fuel poverty
· Learn about Government ‘green’ incentives
· Become leaders in helping London’s transition to a low carbon city.
The workshop you attend will help your organisation improve its energy efficiency and become a behaviour change leader in your community. It will focus on potential actions that you and your members can take to reduce energy bills and their carbon footprint. And, organisations can also sign up to a FREE Eco-audit delivered by City Bridge Trust (subject to owning their building and meeting other eligibility criteria).

The Inovenergy 1 Tonne Roadshow is a series of focused, practical, networking events and presentations by leading experts designed to draw out and resolve key issues relevant to practitioners in all sectors working to deliver London’s waste infrastructure and services.
Celebrate Compost Awareness Week and give your garden a green boost by picking up some FREE compost at the London Borough of Hounslow’s compost giveaway day on Saturday 12 May 2012.
Come along and pick up your FREE compost at Hounslow Heath Nature Reserve car park in Frampton Road, Hounslow, TW4 5RB from 10am-2pm.
Please bring a shovel and some containers, bags, boxes or whatever you can find to carry your compost home in.
There will be a maximum of 4 bags per visit or at Hounslow’s discretion.
Compost helps to improve soil structure and has everything plants need to help them grow. It is also good for the environment.
On the day you will also be able to:
• Find out more about home composting
• Make biodegradable newspaper plantpots for your seedlings
• Bring the children along and meet Composting Claire
• See a display wormery in action and find out more about vermicomposting.
